1) GIVE IT TO GOD!
I know. I know. It's easier said than done but, that doesn't mean it's not true.
The most important way to relieve daily stress is by giving our burdens to the Lord.
If you're feeling overwhelmed from the stress of life, just stop, take a second, give it up.
God says in Isaiah 41:10 "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."
2) PRAY HARDER!
This goes along with the first one but it is just as important.
Sometimes we may try to give it God but it just doesn't seem to work. We continue to stress about the things we can't control. In this moment, pray. Pray for strength, guidance, and relief.
Sometimes a simple prayer can lift the heaviest of burdens.
Philippians 4:6-7 is a great passage for this.
3) LISTEN TO INSTRUMENTAL HYMNS/SONGS There's nothing I love more than the peacefulness of an instrumental hymn. The piano has always been so calming for me. If I'm feeling overwhelmed and stressed, I will play or listen to a soft hymn and my spirits are immediately lifted. Words can't express what music does for the soul. If you're a musician you know what I mean when I say, It's more than just a hobby; it's a way of life.
4) TURN OUT THE LIGHTS AND LIGHT A CANDLE Sometimes a simple moment alone, just you and God, is all you need to relieve some of that stress. Sitting there in the quiet stillness, with the scent of your favorite candle lingering in the air can be extremely calming. Moments like this force you to reflect on all God has done for you. You remember to thank God for the little things instead of stressing about all the big things. Some of my most care-free moments are spent like this.
5) SPEND MORE TIME WITH REFRESHING PEOPLE It is often easy to forget the most important things in our life. We get swept up in all the stress and worry that we fail to be grateful for what or who we do have. I may be young but, in the past twenty years of my life, who I did or didn't spend time with determined my level of stress. I find myself most relaxed and stress free when I'm around those who are stress free. Those are the people who have made my life better. My parents, siblings, grandparents, friends, anyone who is a blessing to be around. You will discover that the less you hang around people who are always stressed or worried, the less you will be stressed.
