Finding Contentment In Your Season

Ecclesiastes 3:1 "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:"

This is a hard one. Being content where we are doesn't come naturally to us.

We have to teach ourselves how to be content. Is it easy? No. Is it necessary? Yes.

We all go through different seasons at different times. Some long, some short, and some completely unexpected. No matter the season they all have a purpose.

I have gone through many different seasons in my life. I would never have enough time to write them all but I did want to share a few. One of the first seasons I remember facing came when I was nine. My parents had surrendered to full-time ministry and we moved halfway across the country to NC. When we arrived, we had no friends other than an evangelist my Dad was going to work with. Shortly after moving that man wronged my family in so many ways. It was heartbreaking. There we were, all alone, in a place we hardly knew, wondering what to do next. We knew it was God's will to be there, but for a long time, I struggled with finding contentment in that season. I couldn't understand why God would bring us so far from our friends and family and allow this to happen. What was the purpose of all of it?

Little did I know the Lord would use that time in my life to teach me so many things.

I learned what a true Christian is. I also discovered that not everyone is who they say they are.

I have gone through many seasons since then but my current season is probably the hardest of all.

The season of waiting, waiting on God's perfect will. Learning to be content in this season is one of the hardest things I have ever done. I sometimes wish this season could be over but I also know God has a purpose.

Philippians 4:11"Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content."

Whatever season you may be facing, good or bad, try to find contentment there.

For me, it's easiest to find joy in the little things. You must first find contentment in those small moments before you are content in your season.

Remember, there's a purpose behind this time. God knows what he's doing.

Enjoy this season!
