Reflections & Routines

Friday mornings usually start very slowly and calmly.

I begin the day at 6:30 with quiet time and devotions. This always makes me feel recharged and ready to take on the day. I try to follow the same devotional pattern but, sometimes God leads me to other scriptures or passages, and other days I focus more on prayer. I'm certainly not perfect in this area, but I try my best to stay on track. You will benefit greatly from having a consistent walk with God and beginning each day with Him.

During this time, I try to reflect on the blessings of the past week. Though this reminds me to be thankful for God's goodness, that doesn't mean every day is roses. Some days may have been sad, painful, hard, and long. Sometimes reflecting on hard times helps me lean more on Him for the next week.

When I'm finished with devotions, I usually do my "self-care" routine. I begin with a quick shower, then skincare, and finish off with a quick hairdo. (This is usually a messy bun)

Now, I've had many people ask me what I wash my face with, so I'm going to tell you about what I use and why I use it.

I have had acne-prone skin since I was a young teenager. I have tried so many soaps and methods, but nothing ever worked for me. The only results were more breakouts and scarring.

There is only one cleanser that works for me. It is called PanOxyl. It's a benzoyl peroxide foaming wash. It treats breakouts while keeping new ones from forming and leaves your skin super clean.

You can usually buy this just about anywhere. I normally get mine at Walmart or Target.

Just a tip, I wouldn't recommend using it in the shower. I've tried before but because of the benzoyl, it caused my face to be burning.

After washing, I recommend using your favorite moisturizer to keep your skin from drying out.

I also go in with some Mederma scar cream which has helped me heal from acne scars and dark spots. I hope that helps if you're struggling with acne.

Now to begin the day!

After I've had some coffee and a protein-filled breakfast, I get to work on some content for my small business. I like to plan ahead for what I will be posting the next week.

During this time I also try to brainstorm new product ideas.

Around 10 A.M. I begin writing my blog for the day. This may take me anywhere from fifteen minutes to two hours depending on whether or not I have an idea for what I want to write.

Once I have posted the blog, I will design a quick post for my social accounts.

Canva is my go-to for designing social media content.

About this time I will have lunch and finish any designs I have left.

I like to use the afternoon to organize, clean, and relax. If there's not much cleaning to do I will work on even more business stuff. The work of a small business owner is never done.

Don't get me wrong though, I love what I do.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest."

I end the day with supper, family devotions, and sometimes a game or movie.

My nighttime routine is pretty simple just get in pajamas, brush my teeth, and put my hair up (if it's not already). I may or may not do some late-night writing/creating, then my day is done.

This is not to say my days are chaos free or that I never have a day without routine. Some days I am not able to stick to a "perfect" routine, but I try. Routines help me to feel accomplished.

When I don't stick to my routine I feel more tired and lazy. That's just my personal opinion.
